Home Visiting Health Care Assistant – Hackney Downs PCN

The Role

Health Care Assistant

The Employing Practice

Nightingale Practice

About Us

Hackney Downs PCN covers seven GP surgeries in North East Hackney around Hackney Downs and Clapton. Practices are collaborating with each other to put this new role in place.

As the successful post holder, you will be employed by Nightingale Practice on behalf of the PCN and will have a base at Nightingale Practice but will mainly be providing care to patients within their own home. The successful candidate will use their own car with a mileage allowance, or the role could be done by bicycle.

The Position

This is a new post designed to improve access for patients to healthcare within their own home. Hackney Downs PCN practices have identified a group of patients who are not currently served by the district nurse team (who look after our housebound population) but who may find it difficult to come to the surgeries, particularly at the moment when some of our most vulnerable patients are shielding at home or preferring not to come out to protect themselves from Covid19. These patients have need for a home visiting service.

Being a home visiting role, and in line with national Covid-19 guidance, personal protective equipment (PPE) and PPE training will be provided.

Home visiting training and clinical supervision will be provided.

The Offer

6 month fixed term 20 hours a week with opportunity to join the Trainee Nursing Associate scheme at the end.

£22478-£25615 pro rata, depending on experience

Upon completion of the 6 month contract the HCA post will be discontinued. The successful candidate will have the option to enrol on a two-year trainee nursing associate scheme culminating in qualifying as a fully trained nursing associate. Nursing associate roles are new roles that are proving to be much sought after by GP surgeries and Primary Care Networks and are a great career pathway for anyone looking to build up their skills into a recognised qualification.
